Background and Notes:
These multi-resolution weapons represent typical ordinance loads for the early Me 110 series of aircraft. This weapons set was specifically built for this visual model, and orient themselves to the visual model without need for adjustment in the .DP file. The following weapons are included in Beta Version 0.9 of the weapons pack:
SC250 General Purpose Bomb A good all-around weapon, the SC250 was found on most Luftwaffe airfields. Weight 550 lbs (250kg)
SC500 General Purpose Bomb Another good all-around weapon, the SC500 was also plentiful at most Luftwaffe airfields. Weight 1100 lbs (500kg)
AB500 Submunition Container An early version of the cluster bomb, the AB500 was typically filled with hundreds of 1- or 2kg bomblets. After release, it would open, dispensing the bomblets either in a tight grouping (dropped at low altitude) or over a wider area (if dropped from a higher altitude.) It was particularly effective against troops and thin-skinned vehicles. Weight 1100 lbs (500kg)
AB250 Submunition Container A lighter version of the AB500. Weight 550 lbs (250kg)
300 Liter Drop Tank The standard Luftwaffe 300 liter (66 gallon) drop tank. The anti-sway braces were part of the drop tank. There is some debate as to whether these tanks were actually droppable in flight, but I lean towards yes. They were used heavily by ZG 26 in the Mediterranean to extend the range of the Me 110 for long escort and patrol missions
300 Liter Drop Tank (nachtjager)The standard 300 liter (66 gal) drop tank. Many nightfighters carried these tanks to extend the time on station for the Me 110 during night intercept missions, and were painted to match the nightfighter's camouflage.
900 Liter Drop TankAfter the failure of the "dackelbauch" fuel tank for the Me 110, first one then two 900 liter tanks were mounted in an effort to extend the Me 110's range for convoy-escort and patrol missions. These tanks wree heavier and more unwieldy than the 300 liter tanks, and were only used where extreme range was needed.
This is a Beta version!! I haven't forgotten the dackelbauch, or other weapons carried by the early Me 110's. This is a preliminary release, and updates will be made avaliable as the weapons pack is completed. Please note that this weapons pack shares some bitmap textures with the Dora weapons pack, so if you install both you may get a few "this file already exists..." errors. I'm just trying not to clutter things up too much on YOUR hard drive. All CFS2 files are prefixed by "vw_" so you will know what they are, and also to facilitate removal, should you so choose.
All weapons in the pack are multi-resolution for better framerates. The AB500 and AB250 cluster bomb effects are meant to be representational, as only 11 separate detonations are a result per weapon, instead of hundreds. This is due to the limitations of CFS2; it is only possible to mount 24 separate weapons in the .DP file. The cluster bomb effect was achieved by designing the AB 500 and AB250 containers, then salvoing it with 11 invisible bombs, so that only 1 bomb is visible, but there are many explosions over a variable area (depending on angle of release, altitude and so on.) I will continue to work to refine this, and hope others will as well.

Copyright Info: These virtual aircraft weapons are released as freeware, for all to use and enjoy. They may not be used in any commercial package or project, nor may they be sold or altered for any purpose without the express permission of the authors. This is my blood and sweat, if I'm not going to make any money off it, nobody else is either!
I encourage repaints, but if you want to distribute any of my files, please get permission first! No files in the original package can be altered or distributed without permission of the authors.
I do not guarantee that this weapons pack will work on your system. It works on mine, sorry but everyone else has to figure it out for themselves. It was designed using the best information I could find that it would be compatible, and at the very least cause no harm, but I offer no warrantees. Your computer blows up, you are on your own.
Version 1.1 aircraft contain .DP files that support this weapons pack. The .DP's provided with each aircraft represent a historically accurate loadout for that particular aircraft. Please note that not all Me 110's were capable of carrying external ordinance. Of those equipped to carry external loads, only certain loads or combinations were supported. The Me 110 did not normally carry, for instance, drop tanks AND bombs, and early C-4/B aircraft had a maximum load of 500kg, where later variations (fitted with the ETC 500 bomb rack) could carry a maximum 1000kg load.
