Fw-190D-9 Yellow "11" of II/JG 2
Spring 1945

History:
During the Winter of 1944-45, several units began to equip with the "longnose" Fw 190D-9. While I & III/JG 2 had largely re-equipped with the "Dora" by Operation "Bodenplatte" on January 1st, 1945, so far I have not been able to determine exactly when II/JG 2 began to re-equip with the "Dora". However, by March of 1945, "Doras" had begun to appear in the loss reports of II/JG2. When Oberst Gordon Gollob, General of Fighters, filed a report on MArch 20th proposing to re-equip fighter units with the latest fighters, II/JG 2 was listed as being completely converted over tot he Fw 190D-9.
This aircraft was discovered at a small airfield between Rommelshausen and stockheim by members of the 183rd Field Artillery Battalion, US Army. It carried the RVT bands of JG 2, with what appears to be a second Gruppe bar incorporated. I have no other information on this aircraft. The works number, 400621, must be considered as speculative, based upon interpretations of photos of this aircraft when it was found by American forces.
Colors:
Manufactured late in the war, the various sub-assemblies of this aircraft were probably painted before assembly, leading to a slightly patchwork appearance. While the darker of the upper surface colors seem to be fairly consistant over the airframe, the lighter color used on the wings is quite a bit lighter than the lighter color used on fuselage and tailplane, leading me to believe that the upper surfaces of the fuselage and tailplane was probably a RLM 81 or 83 (dark brown-green or dark green) and RLM 75 (medium gray) combination. The wings would appear to have been RLM 81 or 83 (dark brown-green or dark green) and a color very close to the undersurface color, perhaps some variation of RLM 76 light blue-gray. As was common on Fw 190s by this time, the undersuraces of the wings would appear to have been only partially painted, the front half of the underwing a carry-over of the lighter of the upper surface colors, with the back part of the wing left unpainted. The aircraft wore the yellow-white-yellow "Reich Defence" bands of JG 2, and a Yellow "11". The white spiral on the spinner was broader than usual.

This is my blood and sweat, if I'm not going to make any money off it, nobody else is either!
I encourage repaints, but if you want to distribute any of my files, please get permission first! No files in the original package can be altered or distributed without permission of the authors.
I do not guarantee that this plane will work on your system. It works on mine, sorry but everyone else has to figure it out for themselves. It was designed using the best information I could find that it would be compatible, and at the very least cause no harm, but I offer no warrantees. Your computer blows up, you are on your own.
This archive contains only model and texture files. Jumo sound package version 1.1 and Dora Cockpit Panel version 1.0 are available as separate downloads for these aircraft. Alternatively, you can either alias them to your favorite CFS2 stock plane, or another Fw 190D already installed on your computer. The .DP file references weapons included in a separate Dora weapons pack version 1.2.
